Free iPhone Apps to Help You Sleep

Do you have trouble sleeping? I was up from 2 to 4 am last night. My rule of thumb is if it is past 3 am I just get up. Otherwise I find I fall back asleep right about the time the alarm is about to go off, and it hurts to get up. Since I know I’m not the only one with sleep issues, I did some investigating and found some apps that are both FREE and are supposed to help with sleep.

NaturescapeNaturespace: Relax Meditate Escape Sleep Naturespace gives you 3D sound designed to relax and lull you. Set the sleep timer and immerse yourself in calming sounds to aid you in your quest for sleep. Great app to try if getting to sleep is your problem.

iHome + Sleep Free app

iHome+Sleep This FREE app allows you to track your sleep habits so you can pinpoint your own sleep issues. This was our favorite part of the app – to be able to look at your sleep habits. It also has a gentle wake feature, but we prefer to wake up to our favorite tunes in our house, so that is the feature we choose to use. The downside to this app is it does require that you have an iHome docking station.

Silva Meditations Free iPhone App
Guided Meditation & Deep Relaxation Audio by the Silva Method – MindValley LLC This one gets mixed reviews. If you enjoy guided meditation, it’s free – what do you have to lose?

Any apps you’d recommend? I’d love to try them!

Free iPhone Apps for Calorie Tracking

Eat Better App

Did your holidays include a new iPad or iPhone? Do you already have one? Every Friday I’m featuring FREE apps that you may find useful to help you with your New Year’s Resolution!

Looking to lose weight this year? I have two free apps you’ll want to download.

Download the FREE EatBetter app and it will calculate how many calories you are allotted, track what you eat, and calculats calories burned when you workout. It also helps you track the number of glasses of water you’ve consumed each day.

I’ve been using Eat Better for several days now. Apparently I eat WAY over the allotted calories for the day. The first day I used it, I discovered that by 10 AM I’d already eaten over half of my daily calories. Wowza.

The one feature with Eat Better I’m not crazy about is I can’t figure out how to delete an item once I’ve added it to my daily total. For example, this morning I added 1 Cup of peanuts instead of 1 Tablespoon. That was an extra 864 calories I couldn’t delete.  Other than that, its FREE! So I can’t really complain.
Calorie Counter by MyNetDiary

Or, you can try Calorie Counter by MyNetDiary. This app allows you to enter your personal information and set a weight goal to get your daily calorie total. It also has the added benefit of being able to scan barcodes to get a calorie count.

I tested this app as well. I found it very user friendly and it has several features, such as adding a custom recipe, that Eat Better doesn’t.

That said, I found I preferred Eat Better. It’s prettier. Seriously, that is that only reason.

Is losing weight one of your resolutions this year?
