Reach CouponIf you are a commissary shopper, there are two new coupons you’ll want to take with you to get OVERAGE! Print out this $1/1 Reach coupon. You will find it under “Personal Care” on the left hand side. This is one of my favorite coupons evuh!!!! Remember, you can hit the back button to print it two times per computer!

Then, print the $1.50/1 Good Life for Cats coupon. This is good on ANY Good Life Recipe product. Look for the treats at the commissary. No cat? Me neither! I give them to friends! Worth it for the amount of overage it pays!

Then, look in your 3/13/11 Red Plum Insert from the paper for the $1/1 McCormick spices coupon. Use it on the McCormick Recipe Creations to get a little more overage!!!!

Coupons to Bring to the Commissary 3/2/11

Commissary DealsThe most expensive item in this picture was .49.

Are you a commissary shopper? Make sure you read my tips on commissary shopping here. Be sure you understand coupon overage. Overage is when a coupon is worth MORE than the product you are buying. In the case of overage, the commissary does not adjust the coupon down – they apply that overage to the rest of your groceries! That is how most everything in the picture above was FREE! This is the strategy I use to get discounted produce as well!

The commissary does not allow publication of the prices it charges its patrons. I respect that. So instead of doing full coupon match-ups, I just let you know what coupons I would use at the commissary to score the best deals! Have these with you and try to find the least expensive item or the item that will give you overage!

.75/1 Muir Glen tomatoes printable coupon

  • Ok. So I just told you to use this on the smallest item. In this case, buy the 14.5 oz cans. You’ll pay about 75% off regular grocery prices with this coupon at the commissary!

$3/1 Any KY Product printable coupon

  • Find the 2 oz size of KY. It is NOT the trial size.

$1/1 Farm Rich Frozen Snacks printable coupon

All of the following coupons can be found in your newspaper inserts. Check out how I organize my coupons here:

$1/1 Celestial Seasonings Tea from the 1/16/11 Smart Source Insert

$3/1 Woolite from the 1/23/11 Smart Source Insert

.30/1 Philadelphia Minis from the 2/6/11 Smart Source Insert

$2/1 KY Jelly coupon from the 2/6/11 Smart Source Insert

$3/1 Gain Fabric Softener from the 2/13/11 Red Plum Insert

.75/1 Frank’s Hot Sauce from the 1/23/11 Smart Source Insert

.75/1 French’s Worchestershire Sauce from the 1/23/11 Smart Source Insert

$2/1 Millstone Coffee from the 2/13/11 Red Plum Insert (look for the trial size package of prepacked coffee!)

$1/2 BirdsEye SteamFresh veggies found in the Safeway Frozen Foods coupon booklet (I bought broccoli which offered the best bargain!)

The following coupon is found in the February Family Magazine handed out exclusively at the commissary. It is well worth finding:

$1/1 Fisher Nuts (if you find the coupon, look for the packages like in the picture above!)

Stockpiled Marcal Tissues for 2011

I stockpiled Marcal Tissues this week. This is one of my favorite stockpiles for 2 reasons. First, they were FREE! 20 boxes of tissue and all I paid was the tax. Second, Marcal Tissues are made from 100% recycled paper – so they are GREEN! Woo Hoo!

This picture is from my Walgreens trip and my Commissary trip. Then, I had to run to Safeway for Organic milk. The tissues may have been free at the commissary, but the milk sure wasn’t. It is higher priced there than any of the grocers I frequent. So I ran to Safeway and spent $6 on 4 half gallons of organic milk that were marked down as manager’s specials.

At Walgreens I started with $6 in Register Rewards. I spent $10 out of pocket and have another $8 in register rewards left!

At the Commissary I spent only $38.09. I saved $61.00 or 64%!

To see what coupons I recommend you bring to the commissary, check out this post here.

How did you do this week?

Commissary Coupon Policy Change

I haven’t shopped at the commissary for about a month. Since I am trying to Feed My Family a Green Diet (seasonal, local, organic) for $15/day, I want to show that it can be done by anyone, anywhere.

However, it was getting to the end of the month, and I had a few screaming good coupons that were military only I wanted to use. One of the deals was to use a coupon where you buy (2) Hormel Natural Choices Deli Sandwich Meats, you get a package of Sargento Natural cheese FREE. To sweeten the deal further, I planned to use (2) .55/1 Hormel Natural Choices Deli Sandwich Meats coupons on the two meats I had to buy to get the free cheese.

In the past, this was completely acceptable. The Free coupon went for the Free item, where the .55/1 coupon went toward the item purchased.

No More!

The cashier showed me the printed coupon policy and informed me there had been recent training on the changes.

This is just an FYI to anyone out there shopping the commissary so you don’t count on being able to get these deals.
