DIY Christmas Gift: Vodka Cherry Bounce

It’s July. It’s 90 degrees. It’s looking nothing like Christmas. But it’s never too early to start planning ahead to make some budget-friendly gifts that friends and family will appreciate.

This recipe is perfect to make at this time of year. Cherries are fresh and in season. But that’s not the best part. What is the best part? This recipe will take you 2 minutes to put together and then you just put it on a shelf until Thanksgiving week! In the meantime, start saving and washing cute bottles that you can strain the Cherry Bounce into and decorate to present as gifts. How easy is that?

Here’s how its done:

Vodka Cherry Bounce Recipe

4 Cups Washed, Stemmed and Pitted Cherries

2 teaspoons Vanilla (optional)

1/2 Cup Sugar

1 quart Vodka

Put cherries in the bottom of a tightly sealing jar. Add sugar. Add vanilla. Pour vodka over the top. Place on a cool, dark shelf for at least 3 months. The longer it sits, the more potent it becomes. After 3 months, strain cherry bounce into tightly sealing containers, placing only a few of the cherries in the bottom of the container.

This might be a silly question, but do you have to worry about the lid being too tight as far as any brewing the sugar and juice might be doing? Also, can you use other fruits, such as blueberries? Thanks!

  10. I have my lid screwed on pretty tight because I shake it about once a week, so I don’t think you have any reason to be concerned.

I’ve never tried blueberries, but yum!
