UPDATE: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED
I’m excited to be participating in the Dreaming of a Green Christmas Giveaway Bash this week along with several other green bloggers. We’ll be giving you the opportunity to win green Christmas gifts for your family, friends, or yourself! Be sure to check out the other great giveaways at the end of this post.
I know it sounds strange to say that everything has changed since my kids were little. I mean, that was barely over a decade ago. But things have changed quite a bit. Toys, bouncy seats, exersaucers, playmats – they all look different. But one thing remains the same. We are enticed to buy toys – and lots of them – but some of them do little to entertain and inspire our kids. In fact, I had many toys I purchased that were never played with by my kids.
I now have nieces and nephews that are little, so I wanted to find them something unique and fun for Christmas gifts. I wanted them to have a gift that they would actually USE! That’s when I found bObles through Abe’s Market.
My criteria for a Christmas gift were:
- Fun
- Practical
- Useful
- Pretty
- DOESN’T MAKE NOISE!!!!!
I found all of that in the bObles Tumbling Chicken. bObles were designed with a Danish aesthetic that is pretty enough that they actually earned a place in the Museum of Modern Art! And they were designed to be not only a piece of furniture, but to be a useful play thing. I knew as soon as I saw the picture of the kids standing and rocking on it, that I wanted to try that. So I did.
I wasn’t alone. Even my husband wanted a turn balancing and rocking on the tumbling chicken! (and at the risk of a painful death, I’ll tell you that means this toy can withstand 200 pounds of pressure. tell me that’s not sturdy enough to last!)
It’s hard to find a toy that is that perfect combination of practical and fun. It’s hard to find a toy that even in your 40′s you want to give it a try. bObles fit that description, so I’m glad that one of you will get the chance to win a bObles tumbling chicken for yourself!

What a great toy! When buying toys for friends’ kids, I try to find things that are natural-colored (no lime green, shocking pink), low on the plastic, and able to encourage imaginative play. Things like blocks, dolls, art supplies.
Ah, a quiet toy that all of my children can enjoy! Sounds like heaven!!!
I look for multi-use, multi-functional items.

In a toy, I’m looking for something that will entertain kids of multiple ages, will be sturdy enough to last more than a few months, and won’t break the bank. If it actually teaches a life skill, that would be even better!
These look like fun! I look for toys that let kids use their imagination and I stay away from character-driven toys. Ideally, I like toys that kids can use for several years.
