Right now, you can get a dozen eggs FREE when you sign-up for the Just For U Program at Safeway.com. Eggs are one of those items I’m a bit of an organic snob about, but we have a saying in our house, “Never turn down protein.” You bet I’m taking advantage of this offer!
How Do You Sign-up for Just For U and Get FREE Eggs?
Head to Safeway.com. Find the “Just For U” button right under the Safeway logo and be prepared to sign-up with your name, address, and either loyalty card number or phone number.
Once you have an account, find the Coupon Center:
Your FREE egg offer should be the first coupon you see in the coupon center. Simple click on the coupon and it will be loaded onto your card. Ta-Da! A dozen FREE eggs when you swipe your card at the store!
But wait! Don’t leave the Coupon Center yet. I have some exciting news. You know those totally annoying in-ad coupons? The ones that are the size of a postage stamp and have to be clipped in order to get the sale price? The ones that ALWAYS beep at the cash register even though they are Safeway’s own coupons? The ones that look like this:
WE DON’T HAVE TO CLIP THOSE ANYMORE!!!!!
Instead, on Wednesday mornings when the Safeway sales start, simply come back to the Coupon Center and load those offers onto your loyalty card in the form of an e-coupon like this:
No more worrying about clipping and keeping track of one more coupon. Can I get a “Hallelujah?”
Ok, I know there is at least one of you out there thinking, “But I don’t want to log-on each week.” What if I told you there is a FREE Safeway mobile phone app? That you can download the mobile phone app and add those coupons to your card right there in the store as you shop? If you are as attached to your smart phone as I am to mine, you will be downloading that app before you even finish reading this article.
BUT WAIT! DON’T STOP READING YET. I’M JUST GETTING TO THE GOOD PART! Free eggs are good and all, but this is the part of the Just For U program I am really excited about:

Here’s how it works:
Every time I entered Safeway and purchased groceries using my loyalty card, Safeway tracked what I bought. With each swipe of my card, it was like I said, “Hello Safeway. I feed my family fresh, whole foods that are organically grown.” Safeway saw that information. But until now, Safeway just scratched it’s head. Then Safeway responded, “Hi Andrea. We see you aren’t buying chemically-laden highly processed foods. Huh. What gives? Didn’t you see our sales circular and our opportunities to save on high fructose corn syrup and monocalcium phosphate?”
Have you ever felt that way? Can I please save on the items I’d actually like to buy?
Now we can go to the Personalized Deals section and we can have a whole new conversation:
Now when I say, “Hello Safeway. I feed my family fresh, whole foods that are organically grown,” Safeway can reply, “Hi Andrea! Instead of trying to entice you to buy with a one-size fits all sales circular, how about we let you save on those fresh, organic items?”

Now here’s the deal with Personalized Deals. Yesterday, Safeway gave a group of us the opportunity to try the program for ourselves. I was in the produce section buying oranges and sweet onions. These are the two produce items I could get at an extra savings using Personalized Deals. While buying them, another woman was buying bananas using her Personalized Deal. I did not have bananas in my Personalized Deals. And for a split second I was kinda bummed. I thought: I buy bananas. I like to save on bananas. But we all need to remember: These deals really do vary from shopper to shopper. Instead of being bummed that bananas weren’t offered to me, I quickly realized: Extra savings are extra savings. I’m excited to save on produce period!
Overall, I’m pretty excited about this new program. According to the Safeway staff I met yesterday, those of us who have a history of buying organic whole foods can look forward to getting personalized deals on the O Organics line and the Open Nature line. Do you know when the last time was we got an O Organics coupon? It was at Albertsons in 2010! Here’s hoping this program lives up to the savings it promises!
