GBG List of Three: Volunteer

Every Friday I like to come up with the three things I can do over the weekend that will make my upcoming week better. Here’s this week’s:

1. My girls and I are signed up to volunteer for a 2 hour shift for Feed My Starving Children. We’ve all been looking forward to this for several weeks. I know volunteering will help put us in the right frame of mind for the rest of the week!

2. Next week we will start taking care of Pete’s grandma while his parents go to Seattle to babysit my nephew. I’m really going to love having a kitchen for two weeks! I also will have unfettered access to a washer and dryer!!!!! (There is just something that feels wrong about a 40 year old woman doing her laundry at her mom’s house.) Anyway, for the next two weeks I plan to do a lot of cooking and stocking of my freezer – look for more recipes here!

3. Run 30 minutes. I have not run since I have been back to Colorado. I was running on the treadmill in Amman, but I have not tried to run at altitude yet. And the altitude is killing me! I feel it every time I go to the gym or hike the dogs. Plus, I hate running. But I ran into my BFF from the 4th grade the other night. She was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago. As part of her recovery, she has been integrating exercise into her life. She was such an inspiration, I just have to see if I can’t keep up with her. I think with the girls back in school that stepping up my exercise will make things better for longer than just this week.

How about you? What are three things you can do this weekend that will help your week go better?

  1. As I read about your volunteer opportunity, I’m sitting at our Tiny Town library circulation desk… doing my monthly volunteer time. 🙂 It’s a good thing!
