Feed Your Family a Green Diet for $15/day: 11/5/10 Update

Wow! I loved the King Soopers Mega Sale this week! If you’re trying to feed your family a Green Diet (heavy on non-processed foods and more Naturals/Organics) this is a great week to head over to Kings! I also took advantage of the FREE items such as the Colgate toothpaste and the FREE Campbell’s soup and FREE Ronzoni to be able to donate them to the food drives at my girl’s schools. On my second trip, as you’ll see, I bought more of the FREE Annie’s Organics Mac and Cheese to also be able to donate those.

This was my first trip to Kings. I did the pillsbury pie crust deal I told you about here. No. I don’t make my own crust. I took a cooking class one time and was told by the Chef that there was no reason to make homemade – roll two Pillsbury crusts together and get a great crust. No. I don’t buy organic crust. The Chef said Pillsbury. I don’t mess with my holiday meal. I did stockpile the Imagine Organic Chicken Broth and the Annie’s Organic Mac and Cheese – which is FREE this week with this Annie’s Organics coupon book.

BTW – I did discover the Playtex gloves are the wrong product – so none for FREE this week.

TOTAL SPENT: $19.56

TOTAL SAVED: $62.11 or 76%

TOTAL RECEIVED: A $3 Catalina on my next order!!!!

Here is my second trip. I was feeling rather flush because I had the $3 catalina – so I bought a Laura’s Lean Grass-Fed Beef Steak. The catalina took the price down to $3.59!!!! I served it with the sweet potatoes you see and some steamed cauliflower. Yum. I also bought some Laura’s Lean burgers.

I got 10 more FREE Annie’s Organic Mac & Cheese and will be giving them to the school’s food drive.

2 FREE Honest Teas.

I discovered Challenge Butter is also part of the Mega Sale. It is $3.00 when you purchase 10 Mega Sale items. I had a .50 off coupon – so only $2! Challenge Butter is rbST free.

This trip also included Horizon Organic Milk Single Serves – I bought 5 but only had 2 coupons. Still, .66/milk means I saved 1/3 off the regular price!

The .99 Organic Pears were another great score. The pears are so good this time of year!

I also bought:

A gallon of Organic Milk, 2 dozen Cage-Free eggs, 2 Mountain High Natural rbST Free yogurts, 2 Boulder Natural Chips, Colorado grown baby carrots, 2 3lb bags Organic apples, Organic bananas, Colorado grown radishes, Whole grain bread, and Whole grain bagels.

TOTAL SPENT: $58.52

TOTAL SAVED: $59.04 or 50%
