The Very Best Hot Chai Tea Latte Recipe

The very best chai latte!

Could anything taste better on a cold, frosty day than a Hot Chai Tea Latte? From the moment you wrap your hands around the warm cup, to the first sip of the sweet yet spicy latte, I savor this drink.

I want to share with you the very best hot chai tea latte recipe.

The recipe for this latte is not complicated. But to make a truly great latte, you need to start with a really great chai tea bag.

If you like the Starbucks Chai Tea Lattes, you might want to start with a Tazo Organic Chai Tea Bags
and see if that is the right foundation for your drink. Otherwise, I recommend you experiment with whatever is on sale at your grocers. Find what you like, then go with it!

The chai tea latte concentrates you can buy at the grocers are always a good bet for a good latte. However, to make the very best hot chai tea latte, you need to make it yourself!

To get the frothy goodness of a true latte, I love my Aerolatte Electric Hand Held Milk Frother. It’s under $20 and I’ve had mine for nearly 15 years!

In addition to frothing this drink, the Aerolatte is so, so good for blending coconut oil in coffee for a bullet coffee. Or, use it to whip your hot chocolate. You will love it!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 3/4 cup organic milk
  • honey to taste

Instructions

  1. Steep your tea for 3 to 5 minutes in the water in a mug.
  2. Heat the milk just until warm. If you have one, use a frother to whip milk. Otherwise, use a blender being careful to let the steam escape.
  3. Add the milk and honey to the mug and stir. Serve hot.

  1. My all-time favorite chai tea is sold by Frontier (www.frontiercoop.com). Make sure to get the organic type as it is much better than the nonorganic that they sell. This is a loose tea. I steep the tea depending on how strong I want it (I like mine very strong) and then add a teaspoon or two of sweetened condensed milk. It is AMAZING! I cannot stand to drink the premade mixes that most coffee shops pass off as chai and I do not care for the chai tea sold in cartons in the grocery store. I can drink the Tazo brand of chai tea bag in a pinch but Frontier’s organic blend has such fresh ingredients that the spiciness and wonderful flavors really show through.

  2. I’m new at this type of tea…and the instructions didn’t indicate to heat water. So do you heat the water?

  3. Yes Shianna, you do heat the tea. Sorry I didn’t mention it. Andrea
